DOCKS

Whether you need to repair an existing structure or want to replace with a new structure Lakes Region Marine Construction has the necessary equipment to complete the job professionally

Types of Docks

Pipe Dock: This is a seasonal dock held up with two inch, in diameter pipe, which is attached through metal brackets which support the wood frame.   A pipe dock is required by law to be manually installed and removed each season, this can be done by either the homeowner or LRMC.  Many varieties of wood are available from pressure treated to redwood and other exotic woods.

Seasonal Lift Up: A cost effective solution. A seasonal lift up dock has an aluminum frame that is hinged at the shoreline and bolted into either an existing rock, a man-place rock or concrete pad.  Decking is made into four-foot panels that are easily removed and supported on 4 X 6 tie post. Many varieties of wood are available for this structure. An advantage over a pipe dock is that the owner can remove this with little effort, and they last longer than the average pipe dock.

Floating: This dock is supported with 2-feet by 3-feet plastic floats, which support a wood frame.  Each section of this type of structure is in 8-foot lengths which are then connected end to end.  Many varieties of wood are available for this structure.

Crib: Supported by 6-inch by 6-inch timbers which are stacked to allow water to flow through, these supports are placed directly on the bottom of the lake and are filled with rocks.  The docking structure is framed on the support system.  This particular type of dock is permissible only where conditions require this solution.

Piling: Supported by logs driven into the bottom of the lake in groups of two, these are cut to grade and have a 4-inch by 8-inch cap connecting the two pilings which are spaced 8-feet apart.  The docking structure is framed on top of this supporting structure.  Are pilings are peeled red oak, in some cases we have used pressure treated, under the approval of DES Wetlands.  As a permanent dock, this has the least amount of environmental impact.

Repairs: No matter the size of the repair, our shoreline specialist will recommend a cost effective solution.
